Spring Days!

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Spring days! After a quick snowstorm yesterday morning which melted by afternoon, we have been having some lovely weather. Today was beautiful! We are enjoying eating dinner out on the deck again. The girls helped me plant some pansies in little corners of the garden.  It feels good to spruce everything up after a long winter. I love having color in the garden again.

The daffodils are starting to bloom everywhere. I hope to show you some pictures soon.

First, I would like to introduce you to our outside kitty, Squeezy Nosey. Yes, that is his name! A special name given to him by a then three year old girl who thought it was the perfect name after he tried to squeeze her nose.  He is a wonderful cat who enjoys long naps and relaxing on our deck.
Isn't he regal and lion-like?

This sweet girl is completely responsible for his name! She loves him and all her animals.

Our female mallard duck has been missing for a few days. We spotted her this morning by the pond, then she flew away.  I believe she is quietly sitting on a clutch of eggs somewhere along the creek bottom!! I hope! I would love to see her with some ducklings of her own!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Thanks for visiting,

March Green

Slowly, the landscape is starting to wake up from a long winter.  I think the snooze button is fully involved this year. Afterall, it is late March. The past two days have been cold and snowy, so I went looking for some March greens.

The forest moss is getting brighter every day!

Just a short walk from our home is the scenic Birch River. It is a lovely, emerald green in March.

This post was written earlier in the week, and I forgot to post it.  Thankfully, the snow didn't last long and the daffodils are starting to pop out everywhere!

I hope you enjoyed my March greens!

Happy Gardening!

Spring Joys!

Everything is waking up here! It is so nice to be out in the garden again after a long winter! Spring is here at last!! The crocuses are blooming, the daffodils are coming along, and outside projects have begun.
My talented husband built this part of our home. The other side of the house is an old, renovated schoolhouse. And, school is still in session daily here!
Oops, Emmy spilled the peas! No worries! My grandfather always told me, "peas like company, so plant them close!" I think of him every time we plant peas--or, when his sweet, great-granddaughter drops some (or the whole pack)!

Wolfgang loves to swim in our pond. He is known to swim for three hours while my husband mows the grass. He enjoyed his first swim of the season very much!
Rocky and Frankie strutting their stuff, always! Such proud fellows!
Pinkie and Radar enjoy the stream that flows below our home.

My garden grows along Wolfpen Run, a quiet stream that flows into the nearby Birch River.  The ducks love their stream and we love our ducks. This has been our first year keeping ducks and have enjoyed them so much.  We have duck eggs in our incubator, so more ducklings soon, we hope!
My one ambition is to make the home the most happy and attractive place for our family. This is where gardening fits in. I think everyone is happy outside in the garden surrounded by natural beauty!

I hope you will join me as I document our adventures at home in the garden.

Happy Springtime!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

An Irish Blessing
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

We are enjoying a snowy Saint Patrick's Day with a cousin visit!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day from our home to yours!
Thanks for visiting,
Erin

March Madness

After three warm days, this afternoon everything changed! The clouds thickened, the winds picked up, and the temperatures dropped quickly. Now, it is snowing! I do believe this is why I love March! I love the snow, the flowers, and the mix of indoors and outdoors. I love the flurry of activities that greets the new season ahead.

These days we are:

-Watching temperatures change at the drop of a hat!
-Cutting lots of firewood for next year!
-Mulching flower beds/garden clean-up
-Planting onions
-Enjoying pond life and crocus blooms!
-Homeschooling
-Planting seeds
-Trying out our new incubator
-Celebrating a birthday week (ending with a sleepover)
-Playing cards and enjoying Grandma's visit!

I hope your days are filled with some March Madness as well!
Thanks for visiting,
Erin
