October Camping!

Hello everyone!

This past weekend we went on a camping trip to Blackwater Falls State Park with five kids and a dog in tow! We had a wonderful little vacation exploring the mountains of Randolph and Tucker counties. It is a great place to travel in the fall as the leaves are simply splendid!

So much forest and flower to explore.....makes me a happy camper! :)

The other happy campers...

Hot chocolate inside and snowflakes outside makes for happy campers! The weather can change drastically overnight in these mountains! We were warm and cozy in our little pop-up home!! Our sweet home amongst the hills!!
My girls have snowflakes on their heads--Do you see the snowflakes?

Thankfully, the weather was wonderful except on our last day! We just bundled up and went outside to play!!

The towns of Davis and Thomas are always great places to dine or window shop...
Pumpkins, mums, and vintage goodness at every shop door!

Loved all the vintage decor in this window! I took so many pictures in hopes of decorating inspiration...afterall, now is the time to make our homes as cozy as possible, surrounding ourselves with what we love!

Now, back to those mountains!! Aren't they amazing!

Don't forget to catch a falling leaf and put it in your pocket!!
Catch a leaf...kiss it...make a wish...pocket it!!

Happy Fall Folks!

Summer into Fall

Hello everyone!
I can't believe how this summer has slipped away and the rhythms of a new season are upon us.  I must admit, I am happy to move into cooler Fall temperatures and slowing down the garden chores (especially, all the mowing!).  My garden is a bit wild these days as the deer chewed a lot of my plants while we were on vacation, so I am more than happy to let nature do the work with the foliage colors of Fall.
Most of these pictures were taken from the end of August. I am a bit behind on documenting my garden...hopefully, next year I will do better.

The annuals are really bringing lots of color to the September garden.

The ferns along our woodland path greened up in August, but now they are a beautiful rust color.

By our pond, the chestnut tree is heavy with nuts bringing excitement to all the little hands enjoying them.  What an abundant September treat!

"Sympathy with nature is an evidence of perfect health.  You cannot perceive beauty but with a serene mind."
 --Thoreau

Sweet Bergmansia shows off her lovely trumpets every September. She is a labor of love as I bring her indoors for winter. (Yes, she is decidedly female!)

Our wood shed is full just in time for our first October fire...until then, we will enjoy lots of bonfires!!

This is a soapstone sculpture I made many years ago...I think it works well in the garden.

Wishing you moments that delight you,
 laughter that is shared,
 happiness that grows,
and memories to keep!! Happy gardening!!

Pony Beach Camping

Hello Everyone!
How is your summer going? Mine is going by way too quickly! I guess time flies when you are having fun! One of the highlights of our summer days is our annual trip to Assateague Island in Maryland.  It is a long drive, but well worth our efforts. We camp in the National Park area, which gives us easy access to our own little private beach...of course, we love sharing it with the ponies of Assateague... Come a long for a bit of a photo tour...

Life is good at the beach!!

The bay is also beautiful to explore.... One of our favorite activities is crabbing!
