Flowers In Our Home

When it is cold and snowy outside, I like to keep my garden inside...
daffodils, amaryllis, and faded tulip blooms perk up my kitchen!

What do you have blooming in your home?

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We are having a quiet day at home filled with all the things we love...bird watching, duck feeding, winter hikes, and tea/hot chocolate...

I was inspired by a blogging friend to read to the kids The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck by Beatrix Potter, a favorite book of ours. Our ducks are lucky to not have any "sandy whiskered gentlemen" (fox)in our neck of woods. At least, not that we have seen lately.

We went out and played with our favorite puddle-duck....
This is Emmylou feeding "Pinky Puddle-Duck"
Can you tell she likes her job?

This duck has a rich history with us and is so tame! Also, one of our first ducks. Now we are up to 13 duck pets!

"The shorter and the plainer the better."
--Beatrix Potter

I am thinking this quote might be a great reason for why I home school my children...hmm.. Beatrix might have been onto something...hmm...

"Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of my originality."
--Beatrix Potter

"With pomp, power and glory the world beckons vainly, in chase of such vanities why should I roam? While peace and content bless my little thatched cottage, and warm my own hearth with treasures of home."--- Beatrix Potter

Enjoy your day!

Simple Joys!

"Happy are those who see beauty in modest spots where others see nothing. Everything is beautiful, the whole secret lies in knowing how to interpret it."
---Camille Pissarro

"Sympathy with nature is an evidence of perfect health. You cannot perceive beauty but with a serene mind." --Henry David Thoreau

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in." --John Muir

Wishing you and yours a most peaceful weekend!

Duck Days and Lessons on Love!

Hello everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful week and filling your days with love and kindness. This week I am reminded to love and be kind, always!! Life is so meaningful if one strives for those two simple things...  It is not always easy and it does take courage to choose love and kindness everyday!

I picked this dried flower bouquet for you! It is a gift of love...
I also have some beautiful Leo Buscaglio quotes for you....

We have 13 ducks and they bring us such joy, especially in the wintertime. The kids love to feed them and watch them from our windows! Do you see Wolfgang sneaking some kitty food from the cat ledge? He is so sneaky! These creatures bring so much Love and Joy to our days!!

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."
--Leo Buscaglio

"Don't brood! Get on with living and loving you don't have forever!"--Leo Buscaglio

"Don't hold onto anger, hurt of pain. They steal your energy and keep you from love!"--Leo Buscaglio

"Love is always bestowed as a gift freely, willingly and without expectation.  We don't love to be loved; we love to love."

"We all need each other."
--Leo Buscaglio

Are you dreaming of your gardens?
January is the month to dream! I hope you are doing the same. Today it is icy and cold here, so I am dreaming of green...
