A Walk to the River

Hello everyone!

Today we enjoyed a walk to the river. It is a short walk from our home to the beautiful Birch River.  It was rather muddy, but we enjoyed the sunshine.  We even came back to find two crocuses blooming in our garden. I do believe (unlike Freddie's prediction), it will be an early Spring!

Thomas and Arabelle enjoyed their hike...

Looking Back- Daffodils and Crocus

Hello everyone!

I thought I would wish you a Happy Friday with flowers....

It won't be long and the daffodils and crocuses will be in full glory again.  I love snow, so I wouldn't mind some more Winter before Spring arrives.
Until then, we will look at pictures of some of my favorite Spring blooms from my garden...

--Thomas Jefferson

"More than half a century has passed, and yet each spring when I wander into the primrose  wood and see the pale yellow blooms, and smell their sweetest of scents, for a moment I am seven years old again and wandering in the fragrant wood."
--Gertrude Jekyll

Looking Back- Spring Blooms/Tulips

Hello everyone!

We have had some beautiful weather recently. Yesterday I was able to mulch a few flower beds, which has me dreaming of spring blooms and blossoms.  I love tulips, but they are hard to grow here.  The deer love them and have been known to dig up a full bed of bulb plantings just a few months after I have planted them. I now plant mostly hyacinths and daffodils for early spring.
I hope you will enjoy some blooms from my gardens in the past...

Winter Aconite- A First Bloom!

Hello everyone!

It has been beautiful weather here today. A perfect day to get outside and look over the garden. I was excited to find my first bloom! A winter aconite with two yellow flowers poking out of the ground. I hope to see more soon.
With Valentine's approaching, the kids have been working on paper flower crafts.
Paper roses and peonies look like the real thing...

They also have been busy with some felting projects...

Winter aconite just starting to bloom...

I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Thanks for visiting,

Erin
